Hi! My name is Will Primrose and I graduated with a BSc in Chemistry from TRU in June of 2020. I first got involved in research with Dr. Kingsley Donkor by undertaking a UREAP Project, and then with Dr. Dipesh Prema by taking on a directed study. Through these projects I discovered a passion for research, which led me to applying to graduate studies. Now, I am a first-year Ph.D. student at the University of British Columbia in Dr. Zac Hudson’s group. Broadly speaking, our group’s research focus is on designing and synthesizing materials for use in optoelectronics through organic, organometallic, and polymer chemistry, as well as through applied physics and nanotechnology; my project is on synthesizing emissive polymer-based nanoparticles. Getting involved in research opened doors for me that I would have never realized I enjoyed so much, and I’m so glad I took those first few steps! If you are at all interested in research, ask your professors for more information, it could open new opportunities for you too!
