Hey! My name is Lauren, and I am a 4th year BSc student majoring in Chemical Biology. I began my research journey in 2nd year where I volunteered in Dr. Kingsley Donkor’s research group to learn more about analytical chemistry. Since then, I have completed several projects including a UREAP looking at a biopreservative called nisin and a Research Assistant position studying the therapeutic uses of cannabinoid compounds. I am currently working on a Directed Studies to examine the relationship between carotenoids and bird feather coloration.

My experiences in research have elevated my education at TRU in so many ways and I highly recommend getting involved! My biggest piece of advice would be to get to know your professors and ask them about their research interests. This is a great way to learn about the work being done and this can help you identify a research area or question that you might want to pursue!
