Hello, my name is Jeanne, and I am in the Bachelor of Social Work program. Course projects and conversations with professors and fellow students inspired me to do a UREAP, which was about the accessibility of post-secondary education. My primary faculty supervisor for that research project was Dr. Oleksandr (Sasha) Kondrashov, who is in TRU’s Faculty of Education and Social Work. In the Winter 2020 semester, I was a research coach for one of Dr. Kondrashov’s courses. Afterwards, my research journey continued in the Fall 2020 semester. I became an undergraduate research ambassador and a practicum student under Sukh Heer Matonovich and Dominique Hazel’s supervision at TRU’s Research & Graduate Studies office. Personally, I find that engaging in undergraduate research opportunities is a great way to make the most out of my undergraduate experience, connect and work with people from different walks of life, develop a variety of skills, and learn in creative and meaningful ways! If you’re interested in research, talking to other students and your professors about research interests could help you advance or get started on your research journey.
